Bishop Auckland Advent Windows is an exciting new community event and is the first ever Advent Windows in the North East.
Starting on Friday 1st December, the first window at the Bishop Auckland Town Hall will be opened by the Mayor of Bishop Auckland as part of the Town Council Christmas Lights Switch On event.
During the month of December, a total of 23 more windows will open with each displaying a different Christmas carol or song. Every window display will be created in partnership with a school or other local organisation.
On the map below indicates when and where each window will open and after Christmas all the decorated windows will remain open until January 6th.
The map is part of a larger map of the town created by school children and others in the community under the direction of Gillian Arnold.

Following that everyone will gather inside St Anne’s Church to have refreshments, get warm and celebrate together! There will also be a quiet space for those who would like to spend a few moments away from the Christmas rush, light a candle, pray and relax.
